Research Associate in Organic Electrosynthesis/Power–to-Chemicals (f/m/d)
The electrification of chemical processes and especially the use of renewable electricity is important for a sustainable chemical industry. Electrochemical reactors utilizing so called “green electrons” in the synthesis reaction can become a key technology for this transition.
As part of the Cluster4 Future “ETOS” you investigate and develop new solutions for the “Electrification of Technical Organic Syntheses”. Within the cluster project EAGLE, you collaborate in a German wide, interdisciplinary team on the “Development and Analysis of a large scale electrolyser for longterm operation”, which will be utilized for the synthesis of an intermediate for the pharmaceutical Finerenone.
Organizational unit
Institute for Micro Process Engineering (IMVT)
Job description
Aim of the project is to develop strategies for uninterupted operation, optimal space-time yields, and extension of the electrolyser life-time. At IMVT, you will be responsible for the set up and testing of the electrolyser in our technical center, as well as simulation of the overall process.
Your tasks wil comprise:
- Planning and setup of an electrolyser on technical center scale for organic electrosynthesis reactions
- Experimental investigation on the operation behaviour and durability of the electrolyser cells
- Optimization of the electrolyser operation as regards yiled and efficiency
- Compilation of the results in scientific and technical reports within the project
- Communication and dissemination of the results in national and international conferences.
Besides the sci-technical activities there will be given the possibility to obtain a doctoral degree.
