Postdoctoral position (f/m/d) in Geomorphology and Soil Science

The working group Geomorphology and Soil Science at the Institute of Geography and Geoecology (https://www.ifgg.kit.edu/english/index.php) at KIT invites applications for a Postdoctoral position (f/m/d).

Organizational unit

Institute of Geography and Geoecology (IFGG)

Job description

The KIT originates from the merger of a university and a research institute. The KIT is one of 11 German Excellence Universities and simultaneously member of the Helmholtz Association. The Geo- and Environmental Sciences are an important pillar of research and teaching at the KIT and are bundled in the KIT Climate and Environment Center. The KIT offers manifold programs to support the career and research of emerging scientists.

We offer a lively cooperation in an international working group. We avail a modern laboratory which includes comprehensive elemental analysis devices (ICP-OES und -MS, EA) and allows for the stable isotope analysis of environmental media and extracted individual compounds (EA-IRMS, TOC-IRMS, GC-IRMS, MC-ICP/MS). The laboratory offers ideal conditions for stable isotope analyses of multiple elements at natural abundance or from low-dosed labeling experiments.

The tasks include teaching and research. In teaching, we expect contributions to the study programs of Geoecology (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and Geography (B.Ed. and M.Ed.) and adjacent disciplines. In research, a program in the field of Isotope Biogeochemistry of soil-plant-systems should be developed and realized with the help of self-raised extramural funds.
