University Professorship (W3) „Tritiumtechnology“

Organizational unit

Division V - Physics and Mathematics, Institute for Astroparticle Physics (IAP), KIT Department of Physics

Job description

We are looking for an internationally recognized expert in the field of tritium technology and tritium research. The successful candidate will work on the application and further development of tritium technologies in both basic and applied research – ranging from particle and astroparticle physics (e.g., for neutrino mass experiments), to spectroscopy, and fusion research – and will explore new fields of application. The position holder will lead the Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe (TLK) at KIT, which has more than 40 employees, and this will involve taking responsibility for the safety area as well as requiring experience in handling tritium.

KIT offers an excellent interdisciplinary environment at the interface between natural and engineering sciences. The TLK is a unique facility on an international scale. It supports and is essential for numerous projects in particle and astroparticle physics at KIT, particularly for the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment (KATRIN). The Tritium Laboratory is also indispensable for KIT's fusion research. You will collaborate closely with colleagues at the KIT Center for Elementary and Astroparticle Physics (KCETA) as well as the Graduate School KSETA, and have ample opportunities to build connections.

You will undertake large-scale research responsibilities with a teaching commitment of 2 hours per week and participate in academic self-governance.
