Job description

The aim of the position is the application of automated and machine learning-led battery research as well as the further development of an existing system for this purpose. You will lead a small team consisting of scientific and student employees.

Your tasks will be as follows:

  • You will identify scientifically relevant research fields in which the system can be used
  • You will independently lead and work on studies for automated and ML-guided optimization
  • existing and development of new battery materials, primarily in the field of post-lithium technologies
  • The characterization of the produced materials with regard to their material properties and performance in cells is part of your field of activity
  • You will also represent the group and the HIU in national and international research projects and contribute to the preparation of progress reports and new proposals
  • You will publish your research results in the relevant scientific journals
  • If your work is evaluated positively, you will be offered a contract extension after one year.

The workplace is located in Ulm.

Personal qualification

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, computer science, business chemistry or mechanical engineering
  • You have proven knowledge in the field of electrochemistry or battery research
  • You have many years of professional experience in interpreting results, writing scientific publications and project management
  • You have also gained experience working in chemical laboratories and developing new research methods
  • Knowledge of control technology is an advantage
  • Material characterization using XRF, XPS, NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy,
    as well as electrochemical and physicochemical analysis are familiar to you
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written form, confident command of the English language.

Salary

Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
